Beginning in 1959 one of the oldest and most well known nudist colonies was well under way and was really coming together. The Nudist colony became known as the Florida Naturist Park and was available to most everyone, except those of African American decent. The founders of this park not only founded the nudist park but also founded the Naturist Religious Society. The founder and leader of this nudist colony died in 1994 and left the colony with very little guidance and soon many of the residents of the park moved away for good.
Though many moved away from the nudist park, some chose to stay. New people also moved in and wanted to update, rebuild, and revive the nudist colony so that it could be as big and even better than it was before. Those that moved to the park to rebuild were nudists but there were also those that were not nudists, including retirees and recluses, all who had great things in mind for the park. The intent was to turn the community into an all-encompassing Christian nudist resort and major cleanups were under way.
While there were many residents that wanted to clean up the area, the valuable property also attracted many commercial developers that saw great things in the land as well. Unfortunately, the beautiful plans of the individuals did not coincide with the commercial plans of the developers. One of the developers did support the creation of a 115-acre park and he bought several park plots and wanted to buy even more. This new park was to be called Natura and was going to contain 500 spectacular homes, condos, a clubhouse, restaurant, water park, as well as a lovely hotel. Residents were looking forward to living in a beautiful community that would be a great place to raise happy, healthy children that all enjoyed a healthy body image.
Unfortunately, the developer that led the way became too fundamental and required outrageous fees as well as mandatory social nudism that turned many long time and new residents off. A guard was also posted at the gates of the community to record the comings and goings of all of the residents, which did not appeal to most residents, as well. Luckily, the residents fought back and fought for their rights and their dream to rebuild what had once been a beautiful nudist resort like colony that had expanse fields of green, rustic street signs, and a real sense of community. A fight continues in a court of law as residents are determined to build a gorgeous nudist colony.
